Dr. Noah Hass-Cohen

I am committed to helping you and yours rediscover what works for you…

I am a psychologist who has been working as an art therapist for over 35 years. My clients include adults, children, couples, and families. In my private practice, I use art therapy to treat relational insecurity, grief and loss, and trauma.

I am a professor at the California School of Professional Psychology where I mentor and teach future therapists. In my publications, national and international keynotes, presentations and trainings, I showcase the links between art therapy and neuroscience. For my work on trauma, I received the “Article of the Year” research award by the Journal of the American Art Therapy Association. I have also been awarded the prestigious Rawley Silver Research Award for my research on pain. I have recently received a grant to provide workshops on obesity and weight management psychosocial factors. Additionally, I have also authored two books about art therapy:

Art Therapy & Clinical Neuroscience; and, Art Therapy & the Neuroscience of Relationships, Creativity & Resiliency, with Joanna Clyde Findlay &

I am avid lover of art!

Before I was a therapist, I went to art school. I enjoy working with paint and pastels. See some of the artists’ work that have influenced me below!

Left: Elizabeth Catlett, Mother and Child, lithograph Middle: Jacob Lawrence, Confrontation at the Bridge from the series “Not Songs of Loyalty Alone: The Struggle for Personal Freedom”, Right: Wassily Kandinsky, Composition, VII, 1913 and Far Right Claude Monet Waterlilies Portfolio Notes

And I love animals!

I currently support an animal sanctuary in Costa Rica called Lands in Love by hosting mindfulness-based workshops there. They are doing an amazing job saving over 1,000 animals. I admire their work and enjoy traveling to the sanctuary in San Ramon!

Due to Covid 19, they are struggling to keep their sanctuary going. If you want to help please let me know.
